

About Your Surgery
Thank you for choosing Waco Eye Surgery Center for your upcoming procedure. Our goal is to ensure your experience is smooth, safe, and comfortable from start to finish.
Below are important guidelines to help you prepare for your surgery.
Payment Policy
All fees must be paid at least two weeks prior to your scheduled surgery date.
Failure to complete payment within this timeframe will result in cancellation of your procedure.
Medications

You may continue taking your regular medications unless instructed otherwise.

Please take your blood pressure medication the morning of surgery.
Medications to Hold the Day of Surgery

Do NOT take:

Diabetic medications
-
Vitamins
-
Cholesterol medications
-
Blood Thinners
If you are currently taking blood thinners, you will need to stop them seven (7) days prior to your surgery, unless otherwise directed by your physician.
This includes medications such as:

Coumadin
-
Aspirin
-
Plavix
-
Warfarin
After surgery
Further instructions regarding when to resume these medications will be provided by your ophthalmologist.
⚠️ Always consult your prescribing physician if you have concerns about stopping any medication.
Eating & Drinking Guidelines

You may eat a light breakfast the morning of your surgery.
-
Fasting is NOT required.
However:

Avoid heavy or large meals
-
Do not consume fast food or greasy items
You may resume your normal diet after your procedure.
What to Wear
For your comfort and safety, please:

Wear clean, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing
-
Wear fully enclosed shoes
-
Bring a light jacket or blanket if you tend to feel cold
Personal Items
To ensure a smooth experience:

Do NOT wear:
-
Jewelry
-
Heavy perfumes or fragrances
-
Glasses (unless necessary for transport)

Do NOT bring:

Bags or purses
-
Valuables or personal items
-
Please have your driver hold onto any necessary belongings.
Eye Preparation
On the day of surgery:

Do NOT wear any eye makeup, including:

Mascara
-
Eyeliner
-
Eyelash extensions
-
False eyelashes
-
Post-Operative Supplies
Post-operative kits, which include your required post-op eye drops, are available for purchase at our main office building.

You must purchase a post-op kit prior to your first follow-up visit
-
Please bring your kit with you to your first post-operative appointment
Cost Information

Post-op kit price: $60
-
This cost is NOT included in your surgery (OBS) fees or billed to insurance
What Happens After Surgery
Your recovery is just as important as your procedure. Here’s what you can expect:
Immediately After Surgery

You will rest briefly in our recovery area before being discharged

You must have a driver to take you home
-
Vision may be blurry initially — this is normal
First 24 Hours

Plan to rest and take it easy
-
Avoid strenuous activity, bending, or heavy lifting
-
Follow all instructions provided by your surgical team
Post-Operative Appointment

You will return for your first follow-up visit as scheduled
-
Bring your post-op kit and eye drops with you
-
Your doctor will evaluate your healing and provide next steps
Using Your Eye Drops
-
Begin using your prescribed drops as directed
-
These help prevent infection and reduce inflammation
-
Be sure to follow the schedule exactly as instructed
Resuming Normal Activities

Most patients return to normal daily activities quickly
-
Your doctor will advise when it is safe to:

Drive

Exercise

Resume full routines

When to Call Us
Please contact our office immediately if you experience:

Sudden decrease in vision

Severe pain
-
Increased redness or swelling

Any unusual symptoms or concerns
