SERVICES

At Waco Eye Associates, there are six full time comprehensive ophthalmologists to provide all of your general eye care needs. These services include complete eye exams, prescriptions for glasses and contacts, and medical and surgical treatment of many common eye diseases. Some of the most common conditions seen by our ophthalmologists include cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. It is our policy as well to maintain availability each day for patients with more acute problems such as corneal abrasions, foreign bodies, infections, or other eye emergencies.

Our practice also has a number of close associations and working relationships with ophthalmic subspecialists, most of whom see patients locally at our office in Waco:

Austin Retina Associates

Austin Retina Associates is a full service retinal practice, primarily based in Travis County. Once a week their physicians travel to Waco to see patients in our office to provide retinal services for those who need it. Generally, the conditions they treat are more advanced diabetic retinopathy, complicated macular degeneration, and other retinal pathology, including retinal detachments and bleeding. Many of these conditions can be treated with laser or medicine here in our clinic. For those patients requiring surgery, they can have their operation performed in Austin with most of the post-operative and follow-up visits back in Waco for their convenience.

Texas Oculoplastics Consultants

Dr. Sean Blaydon of the Texas Oculoplastics Consultants travels to our office in Waco once a month from his primary location in Austin, Texas. Dr. Blaydon is a board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in Oculoplastics, mainly dealing with the medical and surgical management of eyelid abnormalities, pathology of the tear duct system, the orbit or eye socket, and adjacent facial structures. Not only does this include aesthetic procedures such as brow and eyelid lifts, but also reconstructive surgeries such as tear duct dysfunction repair, scar revision, eyelid skin cancers and position repairs.

Clarity Eye Center (Glaucoma Specialist)

Dr. Kalpana K. Jatla is a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist.  She attended the University of North Carolina (B.S.) and Wake Forest University School of Medicine (M.D) before finishing her ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and her Glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.  Dr. Jatla has a keen interest in glaucoma. Her formal glaucoma training includes filtering, shunt, and other corrective procedures. She enjoys seeing adults as well as children.

LASIK/PRK/Refractive Surgery

Waco Eye Associates also has a close, working relationship with Dr. Stephen Slade of Houston, Texas, one of the world’s leaders in LASIK and other refractive surgeries. For our patients who are ready to be free of their glasses or contacts, Dr. Slade has extensive experience performing over 25,000 LASIK and other refractive procedures. Prior to surgery, your ophthalmologist and Dr. Slade will perform a thorough examination to ensure your candidacy for the procedure. Dr. Slade performs the surgery in Houston, and for our patient’s convenience, most of the post-operative care is performed by our ophthalmologists here in Waco.
